Christmas concert. Czech carols and a solo for French horn
At the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra and Moravian Theatre’s Christmas concert, the Philharmonic’s symphony orchestra will perform alongside the choir and soloists from the opera ensemble, conducted by Zdeněk Klauda. The evening’s most prominent artistic figure will be the French horn player Radek Baborák, who ranks amongst the very best of the international scene – he will feature in two concerto pieces, one by Jaroslav Pelikán and the other by Jan Jakub Ryba, a Czech composer from the transition between the Classical and Romantic periods, best known for his Czech Christmas Mass. Another of his masterpieces is the Concerto for French horn and orchestra. In a similar spirit, the first half of the concert will be complemented by a composition by another Classical-era composer, Antonín Rejcha. The highlight of the concert will be the Christmas Carols by Luboš Fišer, who, amongst other things, has distinguished himself in the field of film music.
