The Magic of New Year’s Resolutions and Their Pitfalls

Why do I get the feeling that all the grown-ups have gone completely mad at the start of January? They’re constantly buying things, my dad goes to the gym every day, my aunt sits on her pink exercise mat, writhing around strangely, and then even refuses to try a slice of her favourite cake! Grandma once said that “at the start of the year, the right wind blows for important changes and great resolutions”. What’s blowing? A wind for resolutions?! I don’t understand that at all! Yet I really do like January – it’s snowing outside, and we’re constantly going to ballroom dances and visiting family. Together we celebrate, sing, play games and have fun.
